Un bien bel été ... A rather nice summer

Eh bien oui, l'été est fini en Ecosse, comme le temps humide et mon rhume le prouvent ... alors il est temps de revenir sur ces jolis mois fort plaisants ! Avec une mention spéciale pour commencer pour les charmantes Triplettes de Château, qui nous ont rendu visite et ont clairement été inspirées par le château de Linlithgow où elles ont joué, successivement, à Bioman (voir photo ci-dessous) et à Fort-Boyard ... ce qui fait une excellente transition pour les photos suivantes !

Well, that's it, the summer is over, at least in Scotland, as the wet weather and my cold can testify ...so it is time to look back to these lovely and enjoyable months ! To start with, a special note for the lovely Triplettes from Château, who paid us a visit and were clearly very inspired by the atmospheric castle of Linlithgow, where they first pretended to be Bioman (or should it be Biowomen, if I want to "localise" and respect the PC approach swamping the English language now ?) and then "played Fort Boyard" ... which provides me with a perfect transition to the next photos !

Donc, pas exactement Fort Boyard, mais pas loin : vacances à la mer, près de La Rochelle (photo ci-dessous pour le prouver : les célèbres tours au couchant).

So not quite Fort Boyard, but close enough : sea-side holidays, near La Rochelle (as proven by the photo below, depicting the famous towers at sunset).


Vacances en tribu, avec toute une floppée d'Ecossais, un sympathique Portugais et 2 bout'choux. Rigolade, soleil, baignade, bonnes bouffes et batailles d'eau : la recette idéale pour de fantastiques vacances !

Tribe-like holidays, with a flock of Scots, a friendly Portuguese and 2 weans. Lots of laughter, sunshine, swimming in the sea, nice meals and water fights : the perfect recipe for great holidays !

Et pour montrer que quand même, on ne s'est pas tourné les pouces dans la maison : notre joli mirroir vénitien (de chez Laura Ashley, mais bon, Venise, c'est loin et y'a des méga restrictions sur les valises maintenant) orne désormais le pallier du haut, et je mettrai bientôt des photos des autres améliorations : la cuisine enfin finie, le beau mirroir marocain dans l'entrée, la gravue des fortifications de La Rochelle dans le vestibule, et même le jardin de derrière enfin plus proche du style "jardin" que du style "Verdun" ... et oui, comme vous pouvez le constater, nous nous préoccupons maintenant beaucoup plus de détails d'ordre -oserai-je l'écrire ?- décoratifs et cosmétiques ! Attendez-vous donc à ce que ce blog à l'origine très axé construction deviennent beaucoup plus concentré sur les joies et vanités de ce monde ... enfin, d'ici à ce que l'Architecte trouve autre chose à casser !!

And to prove that we haven't just been idle in the house : our lovely Venitian mirror (from Laura Ashley, because Venice is far and there are ridiculous restrictions on luggage now) adorns the top landing, and I'll soon be adding photos of other improvements : the finally finished kitchen, the lovely Morrocan mirror in the hall, the old map of La Rochelle's fortifications in the vestibule, and even the back garden, which is now distinctly more ornamental than defensive ... yes, dare I say it, we are now concentration on much more decorative and cosmetic ventures ! You can therefore expect this blog, which started with a distinctive building angle, to feature more entries about the pleasures and vanities of this world ... that is until the Archictect find a new demolition project !
